Fire doors are a building’s first line of defense, yet they are often the most abused safety element in any structure. Following the post-Grenfell legislative shifts—including Regulation 10 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022—the demand for verified competency has never been higher.
This professional qualification transforms delegates into "Competent Persons" as defined by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. Moving beyond a general "visual check," this course provides the technical mastery required to deconstruct a fire door's anatomy, from timber charring rates to the complexities of intumescent technology and hardware compatibility.
Through a combination of rigorous classroom theory and hands-on practical assessment, learners will gain the skills to:
Navigate the legal framework of fire safety legislation.
Identify critical non-compliances using professional inspector’s tools.
Produce robust, regulation-compliant inspection reports.
Ensure your building’s compartmentation holds when it matters most. Gain the qualification that sets the industry standard.

At LFS, we are currently managing the fire detection and alarm project for a complex new-build residential development. Our team is navigating the transition from the initial fire strategy to a fully compliant installation, ensuring every aspect meets the relevant British Standards.
Key focus areas of our current work include:
Residential Life Safety: Designing and implementing Category LD1 and LD2 systems (BS 5839-6) across standard and studio apartments.
Integrated Smoke Control: Developing the Category L5 interface (BS 5839-1) required to automatically trigger mechanical smoke ventilation shafts in common lobbies.
Specialized Detection: Installing addressable smoke detection within service risers located in the stair cores to ensure rapid fire service intervention.
Ancillary Systems: Deploying Category L2 and L3 systems for plant rooms and basement car parks, including the integration of emergency voice communication (EVC) for refuge areas.
End-to-End Management: Overseeing the project through all stages, from the initial strategic review to final commissioning and handover.
